What to do about the lifestyle creep | Taboo money chats with Dyl Buckley

The saying goes that comparison is the thief of joy. But when it comes to your finances, comparison can also seriously derail your financial goals. It's true, most of us will experience the lifestyle creep to some degree throughout our lifetime... particularly in a time where comparison is rife on social media. Who can blame you if your first thought when receiving a pay rise is to treat yourself!

This week, Mads and Soph chat with Dyl Buckley about each of their experiences "keeping up with the Jones'". We discuss how Dyl's money mentality has been shaped by his family experiences growing up, how he navigated fluctuating pay as a football player, some of his biggest money mistakes (and what he learnt!), and how to align your spending with things you truly value.

But the conversation doesn't end here... we want your thoughts!

  1. Have you succumbed to the lifestyle creep? Was there a way to break the cycle?
  2. How does comparison influence the way you spend money?
  3. What are your core values that you will always spend money on?

Send your thoughts to these questions, or anything else from our chat to yigc@equitymates.com for our brand new newsletter. And don't forget to subscribe whilst you're at it!
