Spring 2021: Session 164 (Why Losing a Job Ain't So Bad with Ashley Caprice)

Call it what you want—getting fired, discharged, laid off, retrenched, or receiving your pink slip—losing your job hurts. Strangely enough, job loss ranks among the highest in stress when compared to other life-altering events such as death, divorce, and severe illness. There are times when losing one's job doesn't come as a big surprise. And while it may rattle your nerves, the benefit of preparing for it is invaluable. Yet, most job losses are unexpected. They seem to come out of nowhere and can knock you off your feet. Whether it has everything to do with your performance or nothing at all, it's still hard. However, if you look at job loss from an enlarged perspective, you realize that success in life is measured far less by our opportunities than by how we respond to life's setbacks and challenges.
