Phil Coulter talks to Elmarie Mawe about his autobiography, Gay Byrne and his national tour

The first Artshouse Podcast features the full conversation that Elmarie had with Phil Coulter following his life, his music and his memories of Gay Byrne....The early morning Arts programme goes out on Sundays all over Cork on 96FM and C103.

Phil Coulter’s biography is the story of the author’s remarkable rise from modest beginnings on the streets of post-war Derry to the summit of the global charts as a composer to a host of the era’s biggest stars such as Luke Kelly, Cliff Richard, Sandie Shaw and Elvis Presley….

In fact he is the only Irish artist to have a song recorded by Elvis Presley.  His song ‘Puppet On a String’ won the Eurovision and his song ‘Congratulations’ placed 2nd in the Eurovision. His song ‘The Town I loved So Well’ is one of the most played tracks on Irish radio and his ‘Ireland’s call’ our rugby anthem, is played at all our international rugby games.
