A mathematician, he is a fellow of the Institute of Physics, an honorary fellow of the Isaac Newton Institute and, until recently, the inaugural chair of the Alan Turing Institute. He is currently chair of ClientEarth, an activist charity that uses the law to engage with environmental issues.
