From Nasa to Income Protection: what lessons can we learn from AI advances

In this episode of the Editor's Podcast, Simoney Kyriakou, editor of FT Adviser, talks about artificial intelligence - two words one can hardly escape hearing or reading, it seems. But the speed at which this so-called Fifth Industrial Revolution is taking place makes it impossible to ignore. She is joined by a tech enthusiast, Dr Christian Westermann to consider how financial services can use AI better. He worked on NASA and the ESA space missions in the 1990s, building satellite-based instruments, working on signal detection, and trying to understand the origin of our solar system with the use of physics, data & modelling. Westermann is now Group head of AI and data transformation at Zurich.
