Advice after coronavirus: Platforms

Over the past few months, advice firms have been turned upside down as they attempt to adjust to the lockdown measures put in place to curb the coronavirus and the impact of the crisis on their business. For advisers, platforms were thoroughly in the spotlight. When the coronavirus crisis sent the UK into lockdown and effectively ended face-to-face meetings between advisers and clients for the foreseeable future, this presented an issue for an industry that still relied heavily on wet signatures.

The latest FTAdviser Podcast sees reporter Imogen Tew discuss with Andy Bell, chief executive of AJ Bell, and Mark Polson, principal at the Lang Cat, how the platform sector has confronted the pandemic and what it will look like post-Covid.

They discuss whether the pandemic has changed adviser expectations about the platforms they use, whether all platforms will make survive the coronavirus and what characteristics a successful platform will need after the lockdown.
