Robin Bowerman - Vanguard | Where index funds were born

Joining us for this episode is Robin Bowerman Head of Corporate Affairs at Vanguard Investments Australia. We spoke about the creation of index funds by Jack Bogle the founder of Vanguard, asset allocation, some of the psychological traps of investing for the first time, and how cost matters when you invest.

"The one thing you know, for certain is what the cost will be. So it's more about what can you control and what do you have to accept that you cannot control You can't control markets, you can control cost and the less you pay the less the drag on the performance of the fund on the portfolio going forward. That's part of the reason why ETFs, I think have become successful both in the US, but also in Australia over the last 10 years is because they've been able to put tools in the hands of investors at a relatively low price."
