Episode 84: Ted Lasso, Season Two

Welcome To The Party Pal celebrates the second season of Ted Lasso, the American sports comedy-drama streaming television series developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly, based on a character of the same name that Sudeikis first portrayed in a series of promos for NBC Sports' coverage of the Premier League. The series follows Ted Lasso, an American college football coach who is hired to coach an English soccer team in an attempt by its owner to spite her ex-husband. Lasso tries to win over the skeptical English market with his folksy, optimistic demeanor while dealing with his inexperience in the sport. In this episode host Michael Shields, with the help of Jonathan Hart (host of the Brokedown Podcast), breaks down the striking differences between Season One and Season Two while exploring the fascinating decision to turn one of the series' main characters toward the dark side. They also, with the help of two seasons of hindsight, analyze what exactly Ted Lasso is truly about and tip their visor to one of the most compelling episodes of television in many moons, "Beard After Hours."
