ENNY: VOCAL GIRLS PODCAST X THE GREAT ESCAPE

The VOCAL GIRLS podcast is the series where music journalist and VOCAL GIRLS Founder, Megan Graye, chats to artists about their past, present and future, and the music that intertwines these experiences. This series is a collaboration with The Great Escape Festival, so for this series Megan will be interviewing four key artists from their line-up. This week, Megan's speaking to esteemed rapper, ENNY.

Born and raised in South East London, ENNY grew up dreaming of becoming an artist. After being spotted by Hackney artist development programme Route 73, and working on releases with them, ENNY was introduced to Jorja Smith and later signed to her label, Famm.

She’s since recorded a special colours show with Jorja of her enormous track, Peng Black Girls, released her own EP: Under 25 and has recently been announced to play the Great Escape spotlight show alongside Temms and Gabriels.

In this episode Megan and ENNY chat about the music she grew up with, the vulnerability of putting your lyrics out into the world and the importance of being yourself.

ENNY's song choices:

Past: Cry - Swiss

Present: Middle of Eden - Maverick Sabre, Sasha Keable

Future: Work like - BXKS and Kish!
