Stopping & Healing From Violence

In honor of April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Imara welcomes advocate and organizer LaLa Holston-Zannell, who is currently working at the ACLU supporting and empowering trans people as the Trans Justice Campaign Manager, to discuss what we have to change as a whole in our society to end this violence, what drives people to commit these crimes, and more. For our Transform segment, Imara is joined by Ignacio G. Rivera, sociologist, visionary, and Founder of The HEAL Project, an initiative working towards preventing and ending childhood sexual abuse, who talks with us about strategies for recovery, the role of sexual liberation in healing, and more.

For Trans Joy, Wriply M Bennett, co-founder of THORN, a program that sends self defense kits to trans people of color, talks with us about the importance of safety, and what it means to provide that for marginalized communities through the growing project.
