62. Luiza Lale

In this week’s episode Seb and Verity meet up with saxophonist, composer, songwriter and all round excellent human being Luiza Lale In her South London home. It is here where Lu and her cellist/composer/arranger husband Dave have been successfully carving out a new career writing commercial music.

Lu chats about the inspirational online courses she attended that started her on this new path and introduced her to new collaborators and friends across the globe. They discuss what is required to write for adverts/libraries/TV - with particular reference to Homes Under The Hammer.

Lu talks about the difficulty in giving a name to your group - although her sax/cello duo with Dave is named Cellax so we think she’s got this nailed down. She also reminisces about her first foray into songwriting, Dear Deirdre, The musical....a modern day masterpiece by all accounts!

There is a concerted effort to pick apart the meaning of different genres, such as ‘Ethnic Chill’, ‘Alt Rock’ and most challenging of all ‘Chamber Psych’....any ideas? Answers on a postcard please.
