This week, farmer and activist Karen Washington joins the show to share her upbringing and how she got into farming. They discuss the difference between food apartheid and food desert, along with the importance of promoting urban farming as a way for Black people to get access to nutritious meals. Karen shares her work in the activism space and how she started Rise & Root farm in Chester, New York.
