Le Guin novella in development, disagree with a review of The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society, and speculate on the ramifications of Luigi's death in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

    Everyone experiences fan conventions differently, but author and movie reviewer Marshall Julius is anything but your typical attendee at New York Comic Con 2019. Armed with his soon-to-be-published quiz book, Vintage Geek, and bags full of collapsible "Pulp Heroes" from Far Out Toys to hand out to appreciative con attendees, Marshall made his NYCC experience all about meeting people, sharing his love of geek culture, and adding to his Darth Vader collection. Marshall spoke to us about his time in New York just after returning to London where he freelances and reviews movies for BBC Radio.

    Saturday was a big day at San Diego Comic Con, and Den of Geek editor-in-chief Mike Cecchini joins us to talk about the huge news coming from Marvel in Hall H and from DC in Ballroom 20. The biggest surprises came from casting announcements, specifically the last minute lead role for Simu Liu in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the double whammy of Blade coming to the MCU and the casting of two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali in the title role, and of course the shocking appearance of Natalie Portman as the new Thor. Mike also talks about some exciting developments for DCTV as the Crisis on Infinite Earths has its own casting surprises in store with a series of cameos.

    Movies Editor David Crow joins us to talk about a couple of highlights from his first day at San Diego Comic Con this year including a couple of amazing panels. We start off discussing New Line's popular ScareDiego horror event, which this year was devoted entirely to IT: Chapter Two, directed by Andy Muschietti, who was in attendance. David breaks down some favorite anecdotal moments from the panel as well as what we learned from the trailer. We then move on to our magazine cover story, Terminator: Dark Fate, which David says earns its R-rating both with the highlights shared and the f-bombs dropped throughout the panel. And lastly, we marvel over the fact that Supernatural is still going and talk about why that might be. Finally, our bonus item is an interview with Chin Han, who plays billionaire visionary Zhao Long Ji in the Dwayne Johnson action vehicle, Skyscraper, which recently released on DVD and Blu-ray.
