Also, on the week Stripe - run by two software engineers - invest big time in Ireland, we look at why countries that favour innovators over rent-seekers, grow faster. Engineers who innovate make things, create wealth, whereas prestigious occupations like bankers, lawyers, management consultants and stock-brokers just shuffle other people's money around. For countries to grow in the 21st century, the entrepreneurs – not the rent-seekers – need to be the chosen ones.
