On this episode of SEPADPod Simon speaks with Lisel Hintz Assistant Professor of International Relations and European Studies in Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies.
Lisel is the author of Identity Politics Inside Out National Identity Contestation and Foreign Policy in Turkey (New York, NY: Oxford University Press, 2018) a wonderfully titled new book: Fight Scenes (Cambridge University Press, forthcoming) and a range of articles on Turkey. On this episode, Simon and Lisel talk about studying Turkey, pastry chefs, travelling to Istanbul, studying Turkish, and popular culture as a means of interrogating relations between rulers and ruled in contemporary Turkey.
