I am so pleased to release this special episode of Queer I Am, The Podcast.

Recently, although a little late to the party, I listened to the Audio Book of The Madonna of Bolton, by Matt Cain.

This book is not only brilliant, funny, emotional, and nostalgic, it was also so relatable for me as a Queer kid, growing up in the 80’s and 90’s.

We talk the book, the story behind it and manage to have quite the conversation about how pop culture and our idols, become our tribe when we didn’t even know what that meant. There is a lot of chat about Madonna, Spice Girls, Melanie C, and we also dismiss the idea of popular culture at times, being considered a guilty pleasure!
