47. The science behind why compassion and kindness will change the world with Dr James Doty

On today's show we have a real hero of mine, Dr James Doty.

Dr Doty is one of the world leaders in compassion research, a clinical professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine and also the founder and director of the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford University of which His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the founding benefactor.

Dr Doty is the author of one of my FAVOURITE books, the best-selling book, “Into the Magic Shop - A neurosurgeon’s quest to discover the mysteries of the brain and secrets of the heart”.

Please find the book here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Into-Magic-Shop-Neurosurgeons-Mysteries/dp/1594632987

In this episode we dive into what compassion actually is, how it affects our brain and why it can change the world we live in. We also speak about the science behind why visualisation works and when a neurosurgeon explains a subject usually considered quite 'woo woo", it's remarkable and motivating to hear how much power we can have over training our brain to manifest our highest self.
