Georgina Lawton - Raceless

Family dynamics can be precarious at the best of times. For Georgina Lawton, the trials of growing up as a teen in suburban Surrey were compounded by a question that refused to leave her alone: why was her skin brown, when the skin of her parents and brother was white? And why did her Anglo-Irish family refuse to engage in discussions about race?

For our Patreon subscribers at Silver Nib level and up, the extended version of the show contains ‘Shit I Wish I’d Known’ from Georgina’s perspective as a journalist-turned-author, learning to find her voice and trust her own abilities. How does she balance writing for herself with writing for social media? Why does she sometimes yearn for the good old days of bikini pics? Hear all about it on the extended NFP cut.
