Chris Lodge

Service User Researcher from the Spectrum Centre at Lancaster University talking at the #MentalHealthCarers event in Manchester.Chris’s presentation will try and explain the feelings associated with the early experiences of severe mental health conditions, and especially how that relates to any understanding of what was happening to the world and life in general. Looking at how the onset of illness affected support networks and family and friends, Chris will explain some of the emotions and fears and challenges to relationships that others have described. Chris will examine how the services available then, were much less than today, but try and find the positive aspects of them. Chris hopes to show how we must look to the future together and use shared experiences to provide, genuinely useful information, and support to overcome the breakdown of supportive relationships.
