Ep. 220 - David Gower

David Gower OBE was one of the greatest batsmen of all time. Between 1975 and and 1993 David scored 26,339 runs in first class cricket for England, Leicestershire and Hampshire. He hit 53 centuries and captained England to victory in the 1985 Ashes series. He holds the record of 119 consecutive innings without registering a duck (scoring zero runs) in Test cricket. Following his retirement from cricket he became a very successful and much loved commentator for BC, Sky Sports and BT Sport. He was a team captain on the comedy panel show They Think It's All Over from 95-03 alongside Gary Lineker. In 2009 he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame and on the occasion of England's 1000th Test in August 2018, he was named in the country's greatest Test XI by the ECB. David Gower is guest number 220 on My Time Capsule and chats to Michael Fenton Stevens about the five things he'd like to put in a time capsule; four he’d like to preserve and one he’d like to bury and never have to think about again .
