In Conversation with... Mary Bosworth

In this episode, Edwina talks to Mary Bosworth, Director of the Centre for Criminology and of the international research network Border Criminologies at the University of Oxford about her research on immigration detention and deportation. Mary sheds light on this under-researched area and the difficulties associated with it. She discusses the impact of the Windrush scandal and how the number of deportations has since reduced but remains cautious that Brexit may change this trend. Listen as she shares her first-hand experience of research inside immigration removal centres in the UK and its toll on all those involved in the process.

This podcast was recorded in July, statistics and figures quoted may have changed since.
