Landing on a shark and a record-breaking pie with Paul Menta

"What idiot put a chef in front of a distillery?!" says Paul Menta, executive chef, distiller and owner of Key West First Legal Rum and extraordinarily enough a professional kiteboarder too.


Paul is a passionate member of the Key West Community and has led many local fundraisers. In July 2023, he will be aiming to create the world's largest key lime pie as part of the Florida Keys 200th Anniversary celebration.


He and guest Si Willmore discuss Paul's rum distillery tours which are known to embrace the less ‘favourable’ side of the local rum trade’s history as well as Paul's appreciation for food and drink, thanks to his Italian heritage.


Remarkably Paul held the Guinness World Record for fastest kite-surf from Key West, FL to Cuba and he and Si discuss his appetite for a challenge as well as his real appetite as Paul shares his favourite places to eat in the Florida Keys area.
