Martha Lane Fox

Martha Lane Fox, Baroness Lane-Fox of Soho, joins Tanya to talk about her pioneering career in digital; from the earliest days of the dot.com boom when she co-founded Lastminute.com in 1998; through her work as government Digital Champion from 2009-2013, spearheading the digitisation of government and the launch of gov.uk; the establishment of her responsible tech charity doteveryone which ran from 2015-2020 and finally, to her current role as Chair of the House of Lords Covid-19 Committee, which is looking at the long-term implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economic and social wellbeing of the United Kingdom. The episode focuses on digital inequalities in the UK, the large section of the population still without internet access and digital skills, and how the UK must eliminate this digital divide.
