Welcome to a new episode of the Geektown Behind The Scenes podcast. On this episode I'm chatting Supervising Sound Editor Wade Barnett, who is a 2020 Emmy nominee for his brilliant work on Amazon's hit series 'The Boys'.

For those of you that haven't caught 'The Boys' yet, the series comes from ‘Supernatural' and 'Timeless' creator Eric Kripke, alongside Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg, and examines what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. This leads a small band calling themselves "The Boys", led by Karl Urban's Billy Butcher, to try and expose the truth about the worlds most popular "superhero" team, The Seven, alongside Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these so-called heroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets.

In the interview, Wade discusses coming up with sounds for the super-powered people on the show, and goes into detail about that iconic episode one scene featuring Hughie (Jack Quaid), his girlfriend Robin (Jess Salgueiro), and A-Train (Jessie T. Usher). We also discuss how sound can help enhance, and in some cases, reduce the workload for special effects, working with the actors in ADR (dialogue replacement), and the complexity of building the sound for that plane scene with Homelander (Antony Starr) and Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott).
