Geektown Radio 231: 'Truth Be Told' & 'X-Files' Production Designer Corey Kaplan, TV News, Film News & UK Air Dates!

On this week's Geektown Radio podcast I’m joined by co-host Darryl from Hollywood News Source to review our week in tv and film, plus we chat about the weekly tv news, along with a look at the next week on tv. We also have a fantastic interview with 'Truth Be Told' and 'X-Files' Production Designer Corey Kaplan.

Apple TV+ series 'Truth Be Told' tells the story of true crime podcaster Poppy Parnell (Octavia Spencer), who is called to investigate the case of convicted serial killer Warren Cave (Aaron Paul), a man she incriminated after he murdered the father of two identical twins (both played by Lizzy Caplan). However, Parnell must soon decide where the lines between guilty and innocent lie when Cave confesses being framed for the crime. You can view the series’ trailer here.

For this series, Corey aimed to create sets that showcased both the life of the incarcerated Cave and podcaster Parnell , who goes between Cave’s world and the wealthier lives of his supposed victim. As an artist with experience in photography, sculpture, film, and installation art and dance, Corey is uniquely able to understand how a set and its details will appear on film, and how the actors interact with a set on-camera.

Along with 'Truth Be Told', Corey is currently working on ABC’s adaptation of Greg Rucka's comic book 'Stumptown', starring Cobie Smulders. Her previous credits also include a huge array of movies along with production design on tv shows such as 'Scandal', 'Cold Case', and legendary sci-fi, 'The X-Files'
