“Liz Truss has an easier job than the Bank of England”

The task facing the Bank of England in controlling inflation is harder than that facing the new prime minister, an expert has said.

Speaking to chief reporter at FTAdviser, Sally Hickey, guests David Henry, investment manager at Quilter Cheviot, and Sue Noffke, head of UK equities at Schroders, said the road ahead is unclear.

“I think Liz Truss has an easier job than the Bank of England,” said investment manager at Quilter Cheviot, David Henry, adding that we need to get a handle on inflation.

Noffke said it is unclear whether the new package of energy measures will contain sterling's drop, or cause it to fall further.
