An Extra Chromosome of Awesomeness - Gina Daly

In this very special episode to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day our host Sinead is joined by bestselling author, food blogger and mother of 3 Gina Daly

As parents to a 12 and 10 year old Gina and her husband Karol’s hearts grew again.

Pregnant at 40, Gina was aware of the the risks but following a miscarriage in 2020 she knew this baby she was carrying would be so very very loved.

Here we talk about her natural concerns, her hopes and joy upon meeting baby Gene.

We talked about why she chose not to go through with the test for Down Syndrome, how her maternal instinct had already told her, the relief when he arrived safely and the happiness he has brought to their world.

Baby Gene was born with an extra chromosome of awesomeness to a family that will raise him to know he is unstoppable. By understanding Down Syndrome more we can create a world of support for every child.
