371 - The Destruction of Pompeii by Mount Vesuvius

In AD 79 Mount Vesuvius violently erupted, destroying and Pompeii other nearby towns. Pompeii lay hidden under metres of ash for 1500 years, preserving much of the city and even the people that had died in the eruption. This is the number one topic for Block 2022!
