Coppola Connections 04: Saturday Night Fever (1977) Catrin Lowe

This week I'm joined by Catrin Lowe to tussle on the dance floor with Saturday Night Fever (1977), a film that in the minds of many is just boogie down on a Saturday night with your buddies and your best white suit, others a gritty look at 70's Brooklyn. Catrin and myself look at the cultural impact of both this film and it's soundtrack left and tackle some of the more problematic moments.

Catrin is one half of soon to launch podcast Don't You Want Me?, alongside previous guest Rich Nelson (Betamax Video Club) where they'll be looking at the most relatable, intriguing and dysfunctional relationships in film.

TW: Sexual Assault and Suicide

Is this film streaming? CLICK HERE to find out.

For PATREON subscribers I asked Catrin these questions:

  1. Are they a Nic Cage Fan?
  2. What was the first Nic Cage film they saw?
  3. Which is their favourite Nic Cage film?
