Amongst the topics in our Programme this morning..A review of the Brexit situation and the likely impact of a “ NO DEAL BREXIT” on Irish agriculture and the economy.. EU support for the agri-sector if a “ NO DEAL BREXIT” materialises, is reviewed, but farmers require more details from Brussels about extent of financial support. Lane Giles, Teagasc, outlines how farmers are co-operating with various bodies to restore water quality in 190 agricultural areas nationwide. The EU may refuse to renew our nitrates derogation after the 2021 Review, if the drop in water quality is not reversed. Teagasc is amongst the organisations collaborating with farmers to restore rivers to full health after a marked worsening of some waterways due to a number of factors, not just agricultural activity.
