Bookable Space with Antoinette Tyrrell

Hosted by Yvonne Battle-Felton, this episode features Antoinette Tyrrell reading from and talking to us about her book, The Secrets Left Behind.

About the book: : What pain must a woman suffer to rob her of the ability to love her own child? It is the harrowing question Alice Millington faces following the tragic death of her own mother, Kate.

The Secrets Left Behind, is a multi-layered tale of the savage severing of maternal ties, a crumbling marriage built on conjecture, and the devastating impact on the next generation of women. It is set against the backdrop of the patriarchal regime imposed by the Catholic Church in Ireland and spans the period from 1952 to 1981. Over the course of a harsh Irish winter, the women battle misogyny and secrecy in a bid to uncover the truth about Kate’s life. But will they ever make peace with what they are about to learn?
