Bookable Space with Anara Guard
In this episode of Bookable Space we're joined by Anara Guard reading Like A Complete Unknown.
About the Book:
In 1969, a girl’s life is not her own. When Katya Warshawsky’s parents demand she drop out of school to join a cleaning crew, she runs away instead. But Chicago’s counterculture isn’t as welcoming as she dreamed, even in an age of peace and love. Starry-eyed and in trouble, she turns to Dr. Robert Lewis for help, then disappears into the streets. The widowed doctor's rash impulse to save her might rejuvenate his melancholy life. While Katya hunts for freedom and Robert searches for her, they each brave the unknown, encountering beauty and chaos in an evocative portrait that speaks to our own complex social times.
About the author:
Anara Guard’s lifelong love of reading has led her to mind a news stand at the age of nine, work as a small town librarian, fact-checked manuscripts, and write book reviews. Her first novel draws upon her memories of Chicago and the music that provided a soundtrack to the late 1960s.
